Dr. Eliu Huerta is Lead for Translational AI and Computer Science Leader at Argonne National Laboratory, and CASE Senior Scientist in the Department of Computer Science at The University of Chicago. A theoretical astrophysicist, mathematician, and computer scientist by training, Eliu's career has been shaped by a deep curiosity about how advanced computational methods and artificial intelligence can transform the way we do science.

His research sits at the intersection of physics, AI, and computational science, spanning multi-messenger astrophysics, cosmology, complex systems, and materials science. Over the years, he has made pioneering contributions to the integration of AI with extreme-scale computing, developing new approaches to scientific visualization, large-scale data analysis, and scientific discovery. More recently, his work has focused on building open-science supercomputing platforms that bring the power of AI to researchers across diverse scientific domains.

Eliu holds a Master of Advanced Study in Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics and a PhD in Theoretical Astrophysics from the University of Cambridge, UK. He is the principal investigator for several interdisciplinary, NSF- and DOE-funded projects that unite researchers from multiple institutions to advance AI-driven science.

A passionate mentor and educator, Eliu has guided over one hundred students, from high schoolers to graduate researchers, and is deeply committed to training the next generation of AI and computational science leaders.
